Kawasaki likely to launch updated Ninja ZX-6R in 2019

- 2019 model to be Euro4 compliant.

- Likely to get cosmetic and technological upgrades.

- Unlikely to arrive in India anytime soon.

Documents filed by Kawasaki with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reveal that the manufacturer is working on a new ZX-6R for 2019.

According to the documents, the 2019 ZX-6R will be Euro4 compliant. It states that the bike would uses a similar version of the 636cc, inline-four cylinder engine from the current bike. However, it will get a three-way catalytic converter instead of the older bike’s two-way unit. While it does convert carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide and water, it also converts oxides of nitrogen into nitrogen to make it even cleaner. 

The 2019 ZX-6R is also expected to get a revamped design language that is likely to be inspired by the aggressive ZX-10R. The bike’s electronic package which currently includes a three-mode traction control system, two power modes and  Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System (KIBS) is also most likely to be updated. We can also expect Kawasaki to tweak the suspension and braking setup on the new bike.

While Kawasaki has not announced any launch timeline, we can expect the 2019 ZX-6R to be unveiled at the 2018 Tokyo Motor Show. However, apart from the ZX-6R, the 600cc supersport class itself is highly unlikely to arrive in India.
