- Milestone achieved in 12 years
- Was first introduced in 2004
- Relaunched in 2016 after being replaced in 2014
The Honda CB Unicorn 150 has breached the 20 lakh units sales milestone. The 150cc executive commuter bike achieved this over the 12 years it has been in production.
The Unicorn, as it was called then, was launched in 2004, in a market space dominated by the Hero CBZ and the Bajaj Pulsar 150. The highlight of the Unicorn was the monoshock; it was the first locally-manufactured motorcycle to feature one. Besides, it boasted of high levels of refinement which set the benchmark for the segment. After staying in production for over 10 years, Honda replaced the CB Unicorn 150 with the CB Unicorn 160 in 2014.
However, taking into account the customer feedback and its successor’s mediocre sales numbers, the CB Unicorn 150 was relaunched at the 2016 Auto Expo. The demand for the bike picked up in no time and it is now the brand’s highest selling model in the market space. Last month, Honda rolled out the 20th lakh CB Unicorn 150.
Priced at Rs 71,368 (ex-showroom), the CB Unicorn 150 is positioned between the CB Shine SP and the CB Unicorn 160. It is available in two paint schemes – red and black. It competes against the Bajaj Pulsar 150 and the TVS Apache RTR 160.
