- New 150cc maxi-scooter under development
- Styling will resemble the Entorq 210 Concept
- Launch next year
TVS is currently working on their flagship scooter, a 150cc maxi scooter. This scooter is based on the Entorq 210 Concept that was showcased to the world at the 2016 Auto Expo.
According to our sources, this new scooter will make its official debut sometime next year. It will be positioned as an aspirational scooter and will be loaded with latest gadgets to match its overall styling and product positioning.
Most of the features like the remote keyless entry and docking station for smartphone will be borrowed from the 210cc concept. However, it won’t be powered by a 210cc motor. It will rather be powered by a new 150cc engine that will get fuel-injection and class leading power figures.
TVS will use some cycle parts from its Ntorq 125 like switchgear, bar-end weights to keep costs in check. But it plans to offer a scooter that has superior overall quality. This 150cc scooter will also be equipped with Smart Connect system that’s currently seen on the Ntorq 125. The instrument cluster will support navigation system which will pick up data from the phone via Bluetooth. It will have ABS as well, but a single-channel system.
The Hosur-based manufacturer has global ambitions with this maxi-scooter. While India will be the first market to get it, TVS will also launch this product in the developed markets. All two-wheelers will get expensive from 2020 onwards due to BS-VI emission norms and the requirement of ABS. With this scooter, TVS plans to offer a product that will help the company enter a new segment and also increase the brand value of the company. We contacted TVS to know more about this scooter. However, TVS refused to comment on it.
