- Gets cosmetic changes.
- Rides on inverted forks up front.
- Likely to get Yamaha’s VVA (Variable Valve Actuation technology).
The 2019 Yamaha YZF-R25 has been spotted on test in a south-east Asian country. While the YZF-R25 is unlikely to arrive in India, we can expect similar changes on the new YZF-R3 too.
The most visible change on the bike is the front end which is now sharper. It houses split-LED headlamps and an air-intake in between similar to the YZF-R15 V3. While the fairing seems to be redesigned, the test mule sported a rear end not much different than the current model.
Another major change is the golden-finished inverted front forks that will replace the telescopic ones on the 2018 model. The bike is likely to get a digital instrument cluster in place of the semi-digital unit. The 2019 YZF-R3 is expected to be equipped with a slipper clutch and Variable Valve Actuation technology (VVA). The current bike’s 321cc, parallel-twin engine produces 41bhp and 29.6Nm of torque via a six-speed gearbox.
The 2019 YZF-R25 and YZF-R3 are likely to be unveiled at the 2018 Tokyo Motor Show. And we can expect Yamaha to launch the 2019 YZF-R3 in India sometime next year.
