Harley-Davidson has unveiled the latest addition to the Softail range, the FXDR 114. The motorcycle is an attempt at widening horizons and attracting a new kind of audience, looking for a performance cruiser. Here is a photo gallery of the Harley-Davidson FXDR 114 -
The FXDR 114 has been designed to resemble a drag racer. However unlike typical power cruisers, there is hardly any bulk, and the body looks streamlined and athletic.
Apart from looking sporty, the front-facing air intake also helps improves the performance. The riding position is aggressive thanks to the low seat and clip-on handlebars.
In line with the rest of the Softail range, the FXDR 114 gets Daymaker LED headlamp with an LED strip at the bottom, LED tail lamp and LED turn signals.
Powering the FXDR 114 is a 1868cc engine churning out 161Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed transmission.
You can boost the performance with a slew of upgrades like a Sreamin’ Eagle exhaust and air filter, tuning module and a stage-IV upgrade kit.
The aluminium swingarm weighs 6.2 kilograms as compared to 10.9 kilograms of a conventional Softail swingarm.
Even the wheels, clip-ons and the subframe are made from aluminium to keep the FXDR 114 light. The front and rear fenders are made out of lightweight composites.
The 19-inch front and 18-inch wheels get thin spokes to give the bike a lightweight appeal. They are shod with 240mm profile Michelin tyres.
Although it is based on the Softail platform, the chassis has been revised to make it lighter and improve the handling. The cornering clearance has also been increased.
The suspension setup consists of 43mm cartridge-type inverted front forks and a rear monoshock with remote adjustment for preload.
The brake setup consists of dual 300mm discs at the front and a single 292mm disc at the rear. ABS is standard equipment.
