Triumph Scrambler 1200 to be launched in India in January 2019

- Scrambler 1200 to arrive in January next year.

Triumph Motorcycles India has announced that it will be launching the Scrambler 1200 in India in January 2019; three months after its global unveil. 

As its namesake, the bike gets scrambler-inspired styling. It gets an engine sump guard, hand guard and high mounted, twin exhausts that boosts its appeal. The Scrambler 1200 is likely to ride on a 21-inch front wheel and 19-inch rear wheel with dual-purpose tyres that further add to its off-road capabilities. The bike sports a circular full-LED headlamp similar to the Bonneville Speedmaster and Bobber.

Triumph is likely to equip the bike's electronics package with rider aids, traction control and ABS which can be managed through the TFT-instrument display. It is expected to be powered by a 1200cc, parallel-twin motor that produces 96bhp and 112Nm of torque. Furthermore, it could be offered in two variants; standard and ‘R’. While the standard bike is expected to get Nissin brake calipers on both ends and suspension hardware sourced from KYB, the higher-spec ‘R’ likley to get Brembo brakes and a Ohlins suspension setup. 

We expect the Triumph Scrambler 1200 to be positioned between the Bonneville Bobber and Speedmaster and retail around Rs 10.6-Rs 11.1 lakhs. Once launched, it will compete against the Ducati Scrambler 1100 and BMW R Nine T Scrambler in India.
