- The 999cc engine is replaced by a 1078cc motor
- Comes draped in a new matte black colour
- It sees hike in power figures and reduction in weight due to carbon fibre bits
Aprilia has unveiled the 2019 version of its flagship superbike, the RSV4 RF. The motorcycle is a more hardcore version of the RR and for 2019, it has received changes on its design, cycle parts and, most importantly, on its engine.
The ongoing RSV4 RF is propelled by a 999cc, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which has been up-scaled to 1078cc. This change has increased the power figure from 195.5bhp and 115Nm to 214bhp at 13,200rpm and 122Nm at 11,000 rpm. The six-speed gearbox now gets taller fifth and sixth gear ratios.
Cosmetically, the 2019 RSV4 RF is draped in a new matte black colour. There are several carbon fibre bits such as the winglets, front mudguard, side panels and exhaust cover, all of which make the bike weigh slightly lesser. The titanium Akrapovic exhaust now comes as standard.
The Ohlins NIX forks on the motorcycle now get 5mm more travel while the wheelbase base has been shortened by 4mm. Braking is handled by Brembo Stylema calipers which now come as standard fitment. In terms of electronics, the RSV4 remains the same with eight-level traction control, wheelie control, launch control, cornering ABS and engine mapping options.
The motorcycle will be launched by sometime next year. The Aprilia RSV4 RF is priced at Rs 22.80 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) in India and it rivals against the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, Yamaha YZF R1, BMW S1000RR and Ducati Panigale V4.
