The Honda XBlade now gets an ABS system as an option but continues to rival the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. How do the bikes stack up against each other? We find out.
Design
Both, the XBlade and the Apache RTR 160 4V are handsome looking motorcycles and exude a highly sporty appeal. They get sharp lines all around, chiselled fuel tanks and an aggressive stance that a younger audience would take a liking to.
The XBlade even gets a full-LED headlamp whereas the Apache makes do with eyebrow-like LED DRLs. However, as compared to the XBlade, TVS has gone the extra mile in lending the Apache RTR 160 4V a bit more of sportiness. The bike gets a slightly more leaned forward riding position and an exhaust made to look like a dual pipe.
Engine
The Honda XBlade is powered by a 162cc, single-cylinder, carburetted engine that produces 14bhp and 13.9Nm of torque. It is mated to a five-speed gearbox. Now, at 159cc, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V might have a slightly smaller engine but it is more powerful. The carburetted unit puts out 16.1bhp and 14.8Nm of torque also mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Cycle Parts
Here, the XBlade takes the front seat in terms of braking hardware thanks to the inclusion of the single-channel ABS unit. It is accompanied with a 276mm front disc and a rear drum brake. The Apache RTR 160 4V gets discs at both ends; 270mm at the front and 200mm at the rear.
Both motorcycles are suspended with telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. They also ride on 17-inch wheels shod with tubeless tyres as standard. And to add to similarities, also get a 12-litre fuel tank capacity.
Pricing
Honda has priced the XBlade ABS at Rs 87,776, a premium of Rs 8000 over the standard variant which retails at Rs 79,768. The Apache RTR 160 4V disc is priced at Rs 85,810 while the drum and fuel-injected versions cost Rs 82,810 and Rs 91,810 respectively.
