The Triumph Rocket III, with its 2294cc, inline-three cylinder motor was the biggest engine in a production motorcycle until it was taken off the shelves recently. However, a few photos leaked from an international dealership meet have confirmed that a 2019 version of the bike is in the works.
The 2019 Rocket III is likely to use a retuned version of that engine, or use a completely new motor that is rumoured to displace around 2500cc. Any which way, the new bike will surely produce more power and torque than the earlier version’s 146bhp and staggering 221Nm figures. This will put the Rocket III on par with its biggest rival, the Ducati Diavel 1260’s 157bhp power output.
And similar to its rival, the 2019 Triumph Rocket III gets the design language of a power cruiser. The bike has shed its laid-back cruiser skin and gets a conventionally set handlebar and foot pegs for a more upright and aggressive riding position. While it gets twin headlamps similar to the previous model, the rear section is shorter and the pillion seat, higher. To complete the bike’s power cruiser appeal, the 2019 Rocket III also sports twin stubby exhausts which end right behind the foot pegs.
The bike also features a single-sided swingarm with a rear monoshock suggesting that it is built on a new frame. We can also expect the 2019 bike to weigh lesser than its predecessor’s monstrous 367kg kerb weight. Triumph Motorcycles might globally unveil the 2019 Rocket III sometime next year. It will definitely arrive on Indian shores, most likely by late 2019.
