- Single-cylinder, air-cooled with oil-cooler
- Power figures likely to be similar to the Yamaha FZ 25
- India debut this year
There have been some rumours doing the rounds online since the past few months about Suzuki’s new quarter-litre motorcycles. But thanks to these patent leaked images, it’s no more a rumour –the Gixxer 250 is actually happening.
As per the leaked patent pictures, the Gixxer 250 will be powered by a 250cc single-cylinder unit with a four-valve SOHC configuration. Unfortunately, there will be no liquid-cooling to keep costs in check. This is something Yamaha did with the FZ25 as well. So there’s no radiator. Instead, a low-cost oil-cooler can be seen in those pictures. To meet the emission norms and to maximise the fuel efficiency, fuel-injection is present.
While the performance figures are yet to be revealed, we expect it to be similar to that of the Yamaha FZ25, if not better. The gearbox too, could be a five-speed unit. The styling of the Gixxer 250 will be in line with the GSX-S300, which is also called the Haouje HJ300 in China. This upcoming Suzuki will definitely be equipped with LED headlamp, full digital instrument cluster and a single-channel ABS system.
Once launched, the Gixxer 250 will go up against the Yamaha FZ 25. Will there be a faired version coming too? We believe so. And when that comes, it will compete against the Fazer 25.
