Bajaj Motorcycles will launch an electric scooter soon. This news was confirmed by the top honcho of the company, Rajiv Bajaj, at the launch of a new brand today.
The Pune-based manufacturer has been working aggressively on creating new electric two-wheeler. While the company has been talking about developing a new electric two-wheeler that is claimed to be the Tesla of two-wheeler, this is the first time the company spoke about an electric scooter. This makes us believe that Bajaj is working on a range of EVs for the Indian market and also for exports.
The company exited the scooter business to focus on motorcycles. It looks like the company plans to get back to the scooter business and that’s a good call. It would have been difficult for Bajaj to get back in the petrol powered scooter game as there are established brands like Activa. So it makes sense to re-enter the scooter business when the world is moving towards greener transportation. This way, all manufacturers have to start from scratch, and that puts Bajaj back in the game.
