- Select dealers are accepting bookings at Rs 5,000
- Deliveries are likely to commence by March
- Based on the YZF R15 V3, it will be positioned above the FZ V3.0
Yamaha dealers have started accepting bookings for the upcoming naked street bike, the MT-15, in India. The motorcycle can be booked at select dealerships for a Rs 5,000 refundable amount while the deliveries are likely to begin by March. This comes in on the heels of the information we received about its launch, which is set to take place next month.
Yamaha MT-15 will be a premium 150cc naked street bike based on the fully-faired YZF R15 V3. It will be positioned above the recently launched FZ V3.0 and FZS V3.0. The motorcycle carries an aggressive streetfighter design with minimalistic headlamp section, sculpted fuel tank and a high-set tail section. It incorporates a single-piece handlebar and a single seat unit and, according to the recent spy shots, possesses a mildly aggressive riding stance.
The Yamaha MT-15 will be powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that does duty on its faired iteration, the YZF R15 V3. It churns out a healthy 18.7bhp and 15Nm and features VVA (variable valve actuation) for optimised power delivery. While braking duties are handled by disc brakes on both the ends, expect it to come equipped with dual-channel ABS, similar to the R15. The India-spec version will feature telescopic forks on the front, as opposed to the USD forks on the international version, and will get monoshock at the rear.
As for the pricing of the bike, the MT-15 is expected to be priced around Rs 1.25 lakhs (ex-showroom) and will locks horns with the KTM 125 Duke and Bajaj Pulsar NS200.
