- Will be based on the current V-Storm 1000
- Likely be named after the old DR 800 Big sold by Suzuki in the 1980s
- Expected to offer better off-road capabilities with more ground clearance and additional electronic options
If rumours got it right, Japanese bike maker Suzuki is working on an all-new adventure motorcycle. Expected to be introduced by 2020, the motorcycle is said to be based on the current V-Storm 1000’s underpinnings. The motorcycle is expected to be positioned above the latter with improved off-road capabilities, more ground clearance and long-travel suspension. According to the reports, the upcoming motorcycle will be named after the old DR 800 Big sold by Suzuki in the 1980s.
The original DR featured a large single-cylinder motor displacing 727cc, which produced around 52bhp. The modern version of the motorcycle will receive the 1037cc V-twin motor from the V-Storm 1000. While the power output is likely to remain at 100bhp, expect the motorcycle to be offered with a host of additional electronic rider aids like dedicated off-road riding mode and switchable ABS to name a few. Other expected cycle parts include spoke wheels, 21-inch front wheel, large 20-litre fuel tank, high-mount exhaust and an engine bash plate.
