2019 Triumph Street Twin and Street Scrambler launched in India

-2019 Street Twin priced at Rs 7.45 lakhs; Street Scrambler retails at Rs 8.55 lakhs

-Get retuned engine, slight cosmetic changes and better brakes

-Electronic package updated with ride modes.

Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the 2019 versions of the Street Twin and Street Scrambler in India priced at Rs 7.45 lakhs and Rs 8.55 lakhs (ex-showroom, India) respectively.

Both bikes get a cosmetic, mechanical and electronic overhaul for 2019. Triumph has reconfigured the 900cc, parallel-twin engine to produce 64bhp; a 10bhp increase compared to the outgoing bike. This unit, however, continues to put out 80Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed gearbox with a torque-assist clutch. Furthermore, the bikes also get an updated electronics package with USB charging port, ride-by-wire and ride modes; Road and Rain for the Street Twin which adjust the throttle map and traction control settings. The Street Scrambler also gets an additional Off-Road mode that switches off the ABS and traction control completely.

The manufacturer has also upgraded the braking hardware on both motorcycles at the front with a four-piston Brembo caliper with a 310mm disc. The rear continues with the two-pot Nissin caliper and 255mm disc. The Street Twin and Street Scrambler’s 41mm cartridge forks have also been retuned for better damping.

As for styling, there are a few subtle changes like a new seat, redesigned side panels and brushed aluminium headlamp brackets. To add fresher appeal, the Street Scrambler gets new graphics while the Street Twin gets a new matte black colour option. The Street Twin and Street Scrambler use similar underpinnings but offer completely different characteristics. The Street Scrambler like its name is a scrambler-styled motorcycle with spoke wheels; 19-inch in front and 17-inch at the rear shod with dual-purpose tyres. The bike also gets high-mounted exhaust pipes that add to its mild off-road ability. The Street Twin on the other hand is inspired by classic motorcycles but gets blacked-out components that give it a modern feel. Since it is road-biased, the bike gets 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends.

Triumph is offering the 2019 Street Twin in two kits; Urban Ride and Café Custom. While the Urban Ride kit gets a brown seat, black engine sump guard, cropped rear fender and a soft case pannier, the Café Custom kit offers Vance and Hines exhausts, cropped rear fender and Fox rear suspension.

The Street Scrambler gets a Urban Tracker custom kit that offers a high-set mudguard, different seat, engine guard, headlamp mesh guard, a pannier along with a Vance and Hines exhaust. While the Street Twin competes against the Ducati Scrambler Icon, the Street Scrambler rivals the Ducati Desert Sled in India.
