2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 officially revealed

- Power output increased to 39.4bhp from 34.5bhp

- Gets inverted forks with radial brakes up front

- Receives new ‘Auroral green’ colour scheme

Bajaj Auto has officially revealed the specifications and upgrades for the 2019 edition of the Dominar 400. The company’s flagship motorcycle has been updated with cosmetic as well as mechanical upgrades.

On the cosmetic front, the 2019 Dominar 400 receives a new ‘Auroral green’ colour scheme which gives the motorcycle a fresh look. The headlamp assembly is now visually smaller with a coloured focal point giving it a more aggressive appeal. The existing digital instrument console has been updated with additional information that now includes average fuel consumption, current fuel economy and distance to service. In continuation, the secondary display located on the fuel tank is now an LCD unit which displays the time, gear position and the trip info. The fuel tank receives a tank pad decal while the pillion seat receives a new embossed D logo. The side mirrors now feature cast aluminium stalks while the side stand is now a forged steel unit providing better support. Bajaj has also equipped the motorcycle with bungee cords that have been neatly tucked under the seat so that they can be used to load strap luggage on to the bike during long distance trips. Besides that, the internals of the signature taillamp have been tweaked and the exhaust is now a twin-barrel unit giving it a throaty exhaust note.

Moving to the mechanical bits, the 2019 Dominar 400 continues to be powered by the same 373.2cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor that now receives a DOHC configuration. The upgrade has resulted in increasing the power output from 34.5bhp at 8000rpm to 39.4bhp at 8650rpm. Peak torque output remains unchanged at 35Nm but is available 500rpm earlier at 7000rpm. In terms of performance, the 2019 edition is claimed by Bajaj to be capable of accelerating from 0-60kmph in 2.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 156kmph. While fuel economy is claimed by the manufacturer to be 27kmpl.

Lastly, Bajaj has now equipped the 2019 Dominar 400 with 43mm upside down forks instead of the telescopic ones giving the motorcycle a beefier stance. For braking, the motorcycle features a 320mm disc now equipped with a radial caliper for the front. The rear continues to feature a 230mm disc with a single-piston caliper. Dual-channel ABS is now standard.

While Bajaj will be revealing the official pricing of the 2019 Dominar 400 in a couple of weeks, we expect it to receive a hike of around 10-12k over the current pricing.
