Harley-Davidson is set to launch the 2019 Street Glide Special in India on 14 March. Now, with only two days for the launch, we have learned that the touring bagger will be offered in five colour options with prices starting at Rs 30.53 lakh ex-showroom for the base Vivid Black colour variant. The top of the line scorched Orange/Black Demin colour variant has been priced at Rs 32.08 lakh, ex-showroom.
The 2019 edition of the Street Glide Special will get the slightly larger 1,868cc Milwaukee-Eight 114 mill instead of the 107 unit on the previous model. The motor registers a peak torque output of 163Nm which is 13Nm more than the predecessor. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox. The motorcycle tips the scale at 379kg and offers a 22.7-litre fuel tank.
In terms of looks, the Street Glide Special will follow the traditional American cruiser design featuring a low-slung stance and the iconic Batwing fairing that surround the LED headlamp unit. It wil feature a blacked-out treatment for components like front forks, handlebar, fuel tank console and exhaust system. Even the engine will sport a similar back treatment to a large extent. The bagger also comes with multi-spoke alloy wheels and stretched saddlebags that are slightly longer with a low profile adding to the bike’s appeal. In terms of features, the tourer will sport an updated Boom! Box GTS infotainment system positioned below the four-pod instrument cluster. It’s a touchscreen unit that will be equipped with Bluetooth and voice recognition for controlling the music, navigation and phone functions.
Coming to the cycle parts, the hot rod bagger will come equipped with 49mm dual bending valve telescopic forks up front and low hand-adjustable twin shocks at the rear. While braking will be done by 300mm twin floating discs for the front and a 300mm single disc at the rear, all equipped with 4-piston calipers equipped with ABS.
In terms of competition, the 2019 Street Glide will rivals against the Indian Chieftain Dark Horse and the BMW K1600 GLT in India.
