Piaggio has updated the Vespa line-up in India with the launch of the new ZX 125 model. The scooter has replaced the LX 125 which has now been discontinued in our country. Adhering to the new safety norm, the Vespa ZX 125 gets CBS (combi braking system) and comes in two variants including the drum brake model, priced at Rs 77,481, and the disc brake trim which costs Rs 81,981 (both prices are ex-showroom). Notably, the Vespa LX 125 was available only in drum brake variant.
Apart from the addition of CBS and disc brake, the ZX 125 remains unchanged. The scooter boasts of the traditional Vespa styling as it exudes a retro appeal. It sports a curvy design accompanied by a round headlamp and chrome finished mirrors, grab rail, brake levers and exhaust cover. All the information is displayed on a semi analogue instrument cluster.
The Vespa ZX 125 is powered by the same 125cc, carburetted motor which churns out 9.76bhp and 10.6Nm and, it is mated to a CVT gearbox. Suspension duties on the scooter are handled by single-sided arm hydraulic unit on the front and a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. As for braking, it gets drum brakes on both the ends while the disc variant gets disc brake for the front wheel.
In India, the Vespa ZX 125 competes against the Honda Grazia 125, Suzuki Access 125 and the TVS Ntorq 125.
