Bajaj discontinues Pulsar 180 in India

- Will be sold until the stocks last

- Has been replaced by the half-faired Pulsar 180F

- Pulsar 180F is expected to come with ABS soon

Bajaj has discontinued its 180cc offering, the Pulsar 180, in India. The motorcycle has been replaced with a new Pulsar 180F, which features a half-faired design similar to its elder sibling, the Pulsar 220F. According to our dealer sources, the Pulsar 180 has been seeing lesser buyers compared to the Pulsar 150 and it will be on sale until the stocks last. Now, with its half-faired design similar to the ever-popular Pulsar 220F, Bajaj has attempted to make the Pulsar 180F an attractive package.

Bajaj offers the Pulsar 180F under its ‘Neon’ range of motorcycles and it comes in two colour options; black with red accents and grey with orange accents. Besides the addition of the front fairing, the motorcycle remains the same as the Pulsar 180. It is powered by a 178cc, air-cooled, carburetted motor which churns out 17bhp at 8,500rpm and 14Nm at 6,500rpm. This units sends power to the rear wheel via a five-speed gearbox.

Underpinned by a double cradle frame, the Bajaj Pulsar 180F incorporates telescopic forks on the front and dual Nitrox shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 260mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear. Notably, the ABS-equipped model has not been launched yet and dealers will continue to sell the non-ABS version until the stocks last. The safety feature is likely to be introduced soon as the new safety norm mandates installation of ABS in over-125cc two-wheelers produced from 1 April.

The Bajaj Pulsar 180F retails at Rs 86,490 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It is likely to receive a single-channel ABS which might result in a price increase in the range of Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000. It competes against the TVS Apache RTR 180 in India.
