- Imperiale 400 could be launched by March 2020
- Gets modern-classic styling
- Likely to be the first Benelli to be manufactured in India
Benelli is planning to a launch a motorcycle that could become their highest selling model. The Imperiale 400, a modern classic motorcycle is likely to be launched in India by March 2020.
This development was confirmed by Vikas Jhabakh, managing director, Benelli India. The company plans to take on Royal Enfield with this motorcycle.
The Imperiale is built around a steel double-cradle frame that houses a 373cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine delivering 19.7bhp and 28Nm of torque. The engine might look old-school with its cooling fins and chrome finish, but it does get a fuel injection system. It is mated to a five-speed gearbox.
The Imperiale 400 rides on 19-inch front wheel with 41mm telescopic forks, and an 18-inch rear wheel with dual spring suspension. The front wheel gets a single 300mm disc while the rear gets a 240mm disc. ABS is offered as standard.
We are expecting Benelli to price this motorcycle quite aggressively, as it could be fully manufactured in India.
