- New TVS electric scooter launch this financial year
- Could be based on the Creon concept
- Might use some parts from the Ntorq 125
TVS Motor Company is planning to launch their first mass production electric scooter in India this financial year. This development was revealed by KN Radhakrishnan.
The top honcho said that they have been investing heavily in electric technology since the past few years. In fact, the company had unveiled the Creon electric scooter concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. It is possible that TVS would build the production variant of the Creon and launch it in the current financial year.
The Creon is built around a perimeter frame and uses three Li-ion batteries that produce 12kW of power. The company claims that this motor propels the scooter from 0-60kmph in 5.1 seconds and gets a range of 80km on a full charge. These batteries can be charged up to 80 per cent in 60 minutes.
In terms of styling, it looks quite similar to the Ntorq 125. In fact, the Creon concept was seen with the same alloy wheels and front disc as the Ntorq 125. It’s possible that TVS could use some cycle parts from the Ntorq to keep costs in check. This will directly help the company price the EV competitively.
