- TNT300 now costs Rs 2.99 lakhs
- 302R is priced at Rs 3.10 lakhs
- Both the bikes are available as CKD units
Benelli has announced a reduction in the prices of its 300cc motorcycles, the TNT 300 and the 302R. While the former has received a price cut of Rs 51,000, the latter has become more affordable by Rs 60,000. Following the price reduction, the TNT 300 now costs Rs 2.99 lakhs while the 302R retails at Rs 3.10 lakhs (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). The manufacturer has attributed this slash in prices to the reduction in manufacturing costs of the motorcycles.
Benelli has recently made a comeback in India after a short hiatus. The Italian bikemaker has partnered with Adishwar Auto Ride India – Mahavir Group which is the distributor of Benelli motorcycles in the country. Now, looking at the growing adaptability of 200cc-300cc motorcycles, the company is aiming to grab a chunk of this profitable segment and the reduction in prices of its 300cc twins is a part of this strategy.
The Benelli TNT 300 is a naked street bike while the 302R is its fully-faired version. Both the bikes are powered by a 300cc, DOHC, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor which churns out 38bhp of power and 26.5Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Based on a steel trellis frame, the motorcycles are suspended by upside down forks at the front and a hydraulic monoshock absorber at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a pair of 260mm discs at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear.
Both the motorcycles are available in India as CKD (completely knocked down) units. In terms of competition, the Benelli TNT 300 goes up against the KTM 390 Duke and the BMW G 310 R. Meanwhile, the fully-faired 302R competes against the KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the TVS Apache RR310.
