Kawasaki launches locally-assembled MY20 Ninja ZX-10R in India at Rs 13.99 lakhs

- The litre-class supersport is now cheaper by Rs 31,000

- Price drop has been achieved by using the best materials without compromising on quality and output

- Engine receives a slight bump in power, now produces 200.2bhp of peak power and 210bhp with RAM air intake

- Continues to be sold via the CKD route

India Kawasaki Motor has launched the MY20 edition of the Ninja ZX-10R in India. The litre-class supersport now carries a price tag of Rs 13.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is Rs 31,000 cheaper than the current out-going model. The company claims to have achieved this competitive pricing despite using the best materials along with advanced technologies, without compromising on quality. The motorcycle continues to be sold in India via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route.

While the overall design of the motorcycle remains almost the same, the MY20 Ninja ZX010R receives a few red accents on the fairing to differentiate it from the previous model. The most notable change, however, is in the mechanical aspect of the motorcycle. Powered by the same 998cc inline-four liquid-cooled motor, it has now received a slight bump taking the max power output to 200.2bhp and 210bhp with RAM air intake. The engine also has been updated with finger-follower valve actuation for a lighter and more reliable setup and red painted cylinder head cover. The cylinder head is now ready to accept a high lift cam without any changes. Lastly, the slick six-speed constant mesh gearbox is now accompanied by a Kawasaki Quick Shifter-Dual Direction quick-shifter for clutch-less shifts.

Besides that, the flagship SuperSport continues to come with Kawasaki’s electronic goodies that include sport traction control, cornering management system, electronic throttle valves, engine brake control, three riding modes and ABS.

In terms of cycle parts, the MY20 Ninja ZX-10R features fully-adjustable 43mm Showa inverted forks with 120mm of travel for the front and an adjustable back-link gas-charged monoshock at the rear with 114mm of travel. For braking, the motorcycle employs 330mm dual semi-floating discs with top of the line Brembo M50 monobloc calipers for the front and a 220mm single disc with a single-piston caliper at the rear.

Customers who had pre-booked the MY20 Ninja ZX-10R can expect the delivery of their motorcycles mid-June onwards. The competitive pricing of the MY20 Ninja ZX-10R should enable Kawasaki to dominate the litre-class SuperSport segment in India. In terms of competition, the Ninja ZX-10R rivals against the Ducati Panigale V4, Suzuki GSX-R1000, Yamaha YZF R1, BMW S1000RR and the Aprilia RSV4 RR.
