With the new Avenger Street 180, Bajaj has moved up the ladder, both in terms of price and positioning. The new entry-level Avenger not only features a more powerful engine, but also several new styling cues giving it a fresh lease of life. Here are the four major upgrades on the Avenger Street 180 over its predecessor -
Bigger engine
The Avenger Street 180, as the name suggests, gets a bigger heart. The 180cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine delivers 15.3bhp and 13.7Nm of torque. The output of this engine is 1bhp and 1.2Nm higher than before, while the weight has gone up by just two kilograms. The engine continues with a five-speed transmission.
LED DRLs
One of the most striking changes in the Avenger Street 180 is the new oblong headlamp. At the bottom of this unit is a LED strip, which gives the bike a trendy look.
New styling
We first witnessed this styling in the Avenger Street 180's bigger sibling - the Avenger Street 220. Even though the overall profile and the character of an urban cruiser have been retained from the older bike, the Avenger Street 180 features a couple of new styling cues. Apart from a new shape for the headlamp, it gets a short flyscreen on top. The grab rail is taller and doubles up as a backrest. It even gets a different paint job with stripes on the tank.
Revised rear suspension
While the hardware is similar, the travel for the rear suspension has been increased by 12 per cent. Bajaj claims that this increased travel has softened the ride and made it more comfortable over broken roads.
