The first edition of the 2014 India Bike Week Chai & Pakoda concluded today at Mumbai. The event was attended by over 400 bikers from Maharashtra and Gujarat. The ride started from Hotel Fountain at NH8 and ended at Ahura Dhaba covering 82 kms.
The event was also attended by Vishnu Mehta who holds the Guiness record of the longest journey by motorcycle in a single country and Pankaj Trivedi, Lima book record holder for the fastest time between Kanyakumari and Kargil. After Mumbai, the Chai & Pakoda ride will be conducted in 19 cities across the country and will involve over 6000 bikers over the next 3-4 months.
“We’re organizing Chai and Pakoda rides in 20 cities across India to bring riders together as a brotherhood regardless of that they ride. Chai & Pakoda welcomes all bikers and in Mumbai on Sunday we hit a record of over 400 guys and girls riding out together on their favourite machines. It is the start of what will lead up to the second edition of one of India’s biggest ever Festivals – India Bike Week 2014. The largest gathering of hard core bikers, fans of the two wheeler way of living, travellers and India’s many music and festival fans,” said Martin da Costa, CEO, 70 EMG.
“Last year, the Chai and Pakoda rides were organized n Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Shilliong, Kochi and Bangalore and the participation was over-whelming. This year we expect that the participant will increases in leaps and bounds with every city. Moreover, the most important festival of bikers, bikes, music and mayhem in Indian history ie, India bike Week is being held in Goa from January 17 and 18 in 2014 and these Chai & Pakoda rides are also a mode to spread the word about IBW,” said Keertan Adyanthaya, MD-FOX International Channels.
