-Yamaha MT-15 registers sale of 3823 units
-FZ25 drops to 989 units last month
The Yamaha MT-15 was launched in India in March and has received a commendable response ever since.
For April, the motorcycle registered a sale of 3823 units, surpassing the sales of its sibling, the Yamaha FZ25 by a huge margin. The FZ25 sold 989 units last month which is a 34 per cent drop as compared to the 1508 units sold in March 2019. In terms of pricing, the MT-15 comes with a price tag of Rs 1.36 lakhs is around Rs 3,000 more expensive than the FZ25 which retails at Rs 1.33 lakhs.
The latter gets a bigger 249cc engine with higher power output and a dual-channel ABS. Nevertheless, the MT-15 sports a smaller but high-revving motor which gets a 4-valve, liquid-cooling, VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) and a six-speed gearbox. It also gets the Deltabox frame which offers great handling and flickability.
The success of the MT-15 could be due to its distinctive and fresher appeal. The bike borrows its styling from the MT-09 which is also sold in India and gets a muscular fuel-tank, an alien-like headlamp which consists of LED pilot lamps and an LED projector along with a svelte rear section. The Yamaha MT-15 has also outperformed the KTM 125 Duke in terms of sales for the past two months.
