Indian FTR 1200 Artist Series fuel tanks revealed

-Limited-edition designs created by five artists for Indian FTR 1200

-Unveiled at the Wheels and Waves event in France

Indian Motorcycles has always had a presence at the Wheels and Waves event that is held in Biarritz, France. And for this year, the American manufacturer has revealed a series of fuel-tank designs for the FTR 1200. 

These designs have been created by five artists. There is Steve Caballero, Adam Turman, ‘RISK’ and ‘D*Face’ also known as Dean Stockton who was part of the Helmets for India campaign held in our country recently. The artwork has been inspired by various places like the hot rod culture, heavy metal, old comics, wall graffiti and geometry.

The Artist Series fuel tanks for the FTR 1200 will be available in limited numbers and costs USD 699 (Rs 49,000 approx.) However, Indian Motorcycles will only sell them in the US for now and it arriving in India is quite unlikely. 

Interestingly, the ‘fuel-tank’ on the FTR 1200 is not conventionally placed. In fact, the motorcycle’s real fuel tank is located under the seat to lower the centre of gravity and thus improve handling. The FTR 1200’s design has been inspired by flat-tracker motorcycles.

The design of the seat and twin exhaust outlets and short rear section add to design appeal. And while it gets upright handlebars, the long tank and rear-set footpegs offer the rider a slightly aggressive riding position. Powering the FTR 1200 is a 1203cc, V-twin engine that produces 120bhp and 115Nm. It comes with a host of electronic aids like three riding modes; Sport, Standard and Rain, wheelie control, lean-sensitive stability control and traction control. The motorcycle is available in India at Rs 14.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).
