- Royal Enfield Classic 350 to be updated soon
- Gets revised frame and engine along with cosmetic changes
- Expected to be launched in India in the coming months
Royal Enfield has been spied testing the new Classic in India once again. This time, the spy images reveal more details about the upcoming motorcycle.
The biggest improvement comes in the Royal Enfield Classic’s mechanicals. To begin with, it gets a double downtube frame in place of the single-down frame on the current model. While this will add to the motorcycle’s weight, it will also offer better rigidity and strength. Sitting inside the frame could be the same 349cc/499cc displacing engine that is BSVI-compliant and heavily revised to curb vibrations.
In terms of looks, the new Classic sticks to the original design but sports subtle alterations. The headlamp and tail lamp cowl and even the mounting for the turn signals have been redesigned. It even gets new handlebar grips, redesigned foot pegs and exhaust along with all new, rather plush-looking seats. The instrumentation on the new Classic is also redesigned although it continues to be an analogue unit. As for cycle parts, the new Classic will continue with the bottle-forks for the front and twin-shocks at the rear along with twin discs at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
As we reported earlier, the sales numbers for the current Classic 350 has been dwindling for quite some time. We can expect Royal Enfield to launch the bike in the coming months and revive the Classic brand name. In terms of competition, it will take on the standard Jawa in the country and demand a significant premium over the current model.
