Ducati has launched the 25° Anniversario 916 limited-edition model of its flagship superbike, the Panigale V4. With this motorcycle, the Italian bikemaker is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the global debut of its 916 superbike. The 25° Anniversario 916 will be limited to just 500 units worldwide and it has been priced at Rs 54.90 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the Indian market.
This special edition model pays homage to the WSBK racing history of the Ducati 916 model. To match with its rich WSBK heritage, the motorcycle was unwrapped during round nine of the ongoing Superbike World Championship at Laguna Seca in California, USA. The motorcycle broke covers in the presence of Carl Fogarty who has won 43 WSBK championships astride the Ducati 916 SBK and 966 SBK. Throughout his racing career, Carl won 55 races in association with Ducati.
The 25° Anniversario 916 is based on the Panigale V4 S while it also borrows selected components from the homologation special Panigale V4 R. Besides the SBK 916-inspired livery, the motorcycle also features Ducati performance components such as forged magnesium wheels and titanium Akrapovic exhaust. The Panigale V4 S is powered by a 1,103cc, liquid-cooled, V4 motor which churns out an astounding 208bhp at 13,000rpm and 124Nm at 10,000rpm.
Besides unveiling this limited edition Panigale V4, Ducati also hosted this event to pay respect to Carlin Dunne - the Ducati rider who passed away at this year’s Pikes Peak Hill Climb Racing. Of the 500 units of the motorcycle, the 5th unit will be auctioned and the collected funds will be dedicated to support Carlin’s mother.
Ducati will keep the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 on showcase at Ducati Island – a section dedicated to Ducati motorcycles which the company sets during races in America. Moreover, the motorcycle will arrive at dealerships in India starting October 2019.
