Yamaha has launched the Monster Energy MotoGP limited edition model of its fully-faired motorcycle, the YZF R15 V3, in India. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 1,42,780 (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is a premium of around Rs 2,000 over the standard model. This edition is a part of Yamaha’s 2019 brand campaign ‘The Call of Blue 2.0’ which was launched in 2018. It focusses on company’s product planning, marketing and customer engagement strategies in India. Under this campaign, Yamaha is also offering complimentary racing branded t-shirts with this model of the R15.
The YZF R15 Monster Energy MotoGP edition features black as its base colour and is adorned with decals inspired by the YZR M1 MotoGP race machine. It boasts of Monster Energy branding on the front panel and fairing along with Yamaha Motor tuning fork logo and Yamaha racing speed block logo. Besides the racy graphics, the motorcycle remains unchanged in all other aspects. The YZF R15 V3 comes equipped with all-LED headlamps and a fully-digital LCD instrument cluster which shows a host of information.
Powering the motorcycle is a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which churns out 19bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm at 8,500rpm. This motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch. It rides on 17-inch wheels which are suspended by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking power comes from a 282mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear accompanied by dual-channel ABS as standard.
The Yamaha YZF R15 V3 competes against the KTM RC 125 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 in India.
