Yamaha has taken the wraps off the XSR155 in Thailand. We bring to you all the details of the motorcycle through this image gallery.
The XSR155 is based on the MT-15 but gets a 'Sport Heritage' design language similar to the bigger XSR 700 and XSR 900 that are sold in international markets.
The tear-drop shaped fuel tank, round, full-LED headlamp and full-LED tail lamp along with the single-piece seat add to its old-school appeal and make the XSR155 a unique looking motorcycle in its segment.
To add to its retro appeal, Yamaha has equipped the XSR155 with a single-pod instrument cluster that displays all vital information and gets a distinctive, semi-circle tachometer.
Furthermore, the XSR155 sports headlamp brackets, a redesigned sump guard and a redesigned exhaust plate that has a pore-like design reminiscent of retro motorcycles.
The bike uses the same Deltabox frame and 155cc engine that does duty on the R15-V3 and the MT-15. This unit produces 19bhp and 14.7Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox along with an assist and slipper clutch.
It rides on upside-down forks at the front along with a monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile, braking is done by disc brakes at both ends. However, the Indian-spec model will sport telescopic forks upfront and also get a single-channel ABS to assist in braking.
Yamaha is offering the XSR155 in four paint schemes- Premium Grey, White/Red Sports Heritage, Black Elegance and Green Wanderlust. We expect the manufacturer to get the XSR155 to India by the end of this year or by early 2020 and be priced closer to the MT-15’s Rs 1.36 lakhs price tag.
