- KTM developing a bigger 790 Duke for 2020
- Performance upgrade to comply with Euro 5 norms

KTM is likely to be working on a bigger 790 Duke; likely to be called the 890 Duke.
The 790 Duke stunned the world with its incredible power-to-weight ratio when it was launched back in 2017. And over the course of two years, the guys in Mattighofen, Austria have left the 790 Duke untouched. Now, with the onset of the stringent Euro 5 emission norms, and the fact that the Duke produces lesser power than the Triumph Street Triple, the only logical solution is to bump up the displacement and power.
The 890 Duke’s engine is likely to produce 10-15bhp more than the current 799cc, LC8c, parallel-twin unit's 105bhp output. Moreover, KTM could also update the braking hardware with higher-spec Brembo callipers and adjustable levers. The electronic rider aids, on the other hand, are expected to remain the same as the 790 Duke which gets lean-sensitive traction control, quick-shifter, cornering ABS, launch control, three riding modes- Sport Street and Rain along with a Track mode that comes with anti-wheelie control.
We can expect KTM to unveil the 890 Duke as early as November at the 2019 EICMA. The 790 Duke was supposed to be launched in India this year, however, with the 890 Duke in the works, it is likely that the latter will make its way to the country instead.
