- Yamaha XSR 155-based motorcycles revealed
- Three different styles of builds
- Unlikely to go into production anytime soon
Yamaha launched the XSR 155 in Thailand only recently and had already showcased three custom-built bikes based on the motorcycle in the South East Asian country.
The XSR 155 custom motorcycles carry different styles. There is the XSR 155 Cafe Racer which gets a semi-fairing, lowered handlebars, rear-set footpegs, a redesigned fuel tank, and a proper retro-styled single seat. The bike gets a brushed aluminum paintjob and uses the MT-15’s alloy wheels that have a black/chrome finish.
Moreover, the XSR 155 Cafe Racer also gets other chrome components to complete its visual appeal. And unlike the other two bikes, the XSR Cafe Racer gets petal discs at both ends.
The second bike is designed to look like a flat-track motorcycle with minimal bodywork, motocross-style seat and a flat handlebar. It rides on spoke wheels shod with flat-track tyres. The XSR 155 Flat Tracker is adorned in legendary GP rider Kenney Robert’s yellow/white/black livery and even sports a competition number plate at the front and on the sides.
It gets thin, dual-exhaust pipes that are high-set and placed near the rider’s thighs just like traditional flat-tracker motorcycles.
The third custom built is the XSR 155 Scrambler. The motorcycle rides on chunky dual-purpose tyres wrapped on spoke wheels. It also gets a short mudguard just below the small headlamp along with upswept exhaust and engine sump guard to give it functionality. To complete its look, the Yamaha XSR 155 Scrambler sports a silver fuel tank with rugged graphics on it while the rest of the bike is completed in black.
The three motorcycles continue to use the Deltabox frame that houses a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine similar to the XSR 155. The suspension is also the same with inverted forks upfront and a monoshock at the rear whereas braking is taken care of by Brembo calipers. While these XSR 155-based customs are tastefully done, they are unlikely to go into production anytime soon. But fret not as we can expect the standard XSR 155 to make its way to India sometime soon.
