- Aprilia 150cc motorcycle launch in February
- Will go against Yamaha YZF-R15
Piaggio will launch an all-new motorcycle under the Aprilia brand at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo. This new motorcycle will be launched alongside the brand’s new family scooter.
According to our sources, this new 150cc motorcycle is in the final stages of testing and will be launched in the highly profitable 150cc premium space. The company had showcased two 150cc motorcycles at 2018 Auto Expo – the RS 150 and the Tuono 150. The showcased motorcycles were loaded with features that are usually seen on high-end motorcycles. But if the Italian maker is planning to launch either of these bikes in India, it will be heavily toned down, and will lose out features like quick-shifter.
Interestingly, there’s a 150cc faired motorcycle that Aprilia manufactures and sells in China, and it goes by the name GPR 150. This motorcycle was spotted in India a few months ago, where it was showcased to a few selected dealers. There’s a high chance that this could be the 150cc motorcycle that will be launched next February.
Piaggio will be manufacturing this 150cc motorcycle in India, and is planning to price it a bit premium than the Yamaha YZF-R15, as the company believes that the Aprilia brand should demand a bit more premium than the rest.
