Benelli India has started accepting pre-bookings for its upcoming modern-classic offering, the Imperiale 400. The motorcycle now can be pre-booked online or offline through the brand’s authorised dealerships at a minimum amount of Rs 4000. As for its official launch, it will be held between 22-24 October prior to the media rides. The Imperiale 400 is likely to be pegged around Rs 2-2.5 lakhs (ex-showroom) while deliveries for the bike will start from Diwali onwards.
With the Imperiale 400, Benelli intends to enter the highly lucrative middle-weight segment which is currently dominated by Royal Enfield's 350cc offerings. In terms of styling, it follows a purely retro design theme incorporating a round headlamp, single-piece handlebar, peanut-shaped fuel tank, spoke wheels and oodles of chrome adorned on a majority of components. Adding to this is a twin-pod analogue instrument cluster with a small digital display along with conventional bulbs for headlamp and turn indicators.
At the heart of the Imperiale 400 is a 373.5cc, single-cylinder SOHC motor which churns out 19bhp of max power and 28Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Meanwhile, braking hardware comprises of disc brakes at both ends assisted by dual-channel ABS.
The Benelli Imperiale 400 will go up against the Royal Enfield 350cc range and Jawa models. To be available in three colour options including Red, Black and Chrome, the Imperiale 400 will be sold with three-year unlimited kilometer warranty as standard.
