Benelli has launched the Imperiale 400 in India priced at Rs 1.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Imperiale 400’s design has been inspired by retro motorcycles. It gets a round headlamp with a chrome casing flanked by round, chrome finished turn indicators. It also gets more chrome on the tail lamp, mirrors, levers and spoke wheels. It is built around a steel-double cradle frame that holds a peanut-shaped fuel tank and a split-seat setup.
Underneath the tank is a 374cc, single-cylinder SOHC motor which has been blacked-out for the Indian market. This motor produces 20.7bhp of power and 29Nm of torque and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic forks up front and pre-load adjustable twin shock absorbers at the rear. Meanwhile, braking hardware comprises of 300mm disc brake up front and a 240mm brake at the rear assisted by dual-channel ABS. Benelli has equipped the bike with a twin-pod instrument cluster with chrome bezels that give it a retro look.
The Benelli Imperiale is offered in three colour options- black, red and silver. Bookings for the motorcycle have already commenced with deliveries to take place in the next couple of weeks. In terms of competition, the Imperiale 400 will take on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Jawa Standard.
