- New 150cc engine under development
- Likely to be used on the Burgman Street first
- Launch in two years
Suzuki is planning to add a few more premium models in its line-up. It’s likely to bring a 250cc adventure bike in the next few years, and it looks like there’s a bigger Burgman Street in the making.
One of the top honchos said that they are planning to add more premium scooter and that means developing 150cc scooters and maybe even something with higher displacement. Currently, the company sells two 125cc scooters – the segment leader Access 125 and the stunning Burgman Street.
The new 150cc scooter engine that’s under development is likely to make its way on the Burgman Street. In fact, that would be a perfect choice, because the Burgman Street is a large scooter and is known for its practicality and great design. So it won’t really hurt Suzuki to develop a 150cc version of that scooter. The top executive went on to say that they will check how the new engine works on the Burgman Street. If it works all well, then it will use it for some other scooter.
Suzuki is quite serious about expanding its line-up in order to gain additional market share. Its focus on premium segments is bound to benefit them in the long run.
