Pune-based Bajaj Auto had launched the most affordable Pulsar 125 Neon in August. The motorcycle was introduced in two versions drum and disc, priced at Rs 64,000 and Rs 66,618 (both ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively. Now, it’s been three months since the premium commuter offering was launched and it has received a positive response so far in the market. However, it seems that the company has silently stopped the sale of the drum brake version as the official website has the prices of the disc version only.
We even contacted several dealerships across the country and haven’t been able to attain stock availability and pricing for the drum variant. On contacting the company representative, it seems that the principle demand in the market is for the disc version and there are hardly any takers for the drum version. Notably, there isn’t any official communication from the manufacturer on discontinuation of the drum brake version. When launched, the disc version demanded a premium of Rs 2,618 over the drum version which is a considerable amount for a motorcycle slotted in the premium commuter segment. However, considering the big bike and sportier feel the Pulsar range offers, buyers appear to be willing to shell out the extra amount for the disc brake version.

The Pulsar 125 Neon is identical to the Pulsar 150 Neon except for the 125 badging on the tail section. It is powered by a 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled unit that churns out 11.8bhp and 11Nm. It comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Bajaj offers the motorcycle in three colour options of Solar Red, Platinum Silver with gloss black base and Neon Blue with a matte black base colour.
