Marking its entry into the BS6 portfolio, TVS Motor Company has launched the 2020 range of the Apache RTR 200 4V and Apache RTR 160 4V motorcycles. There are the first-generation of BS6 compliant motorcycle to roll out from the TVS’ stable. The 2020 edition of the Apache motorcycles have been priced at Rs 99,950 for the drum and Rs 1.03 lakhs for the disc version of the RTR 160 4V. Meanwhile, the more powerful RTR 200 4V carries a sticker price of Rs 1.24 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi.
Along with the BS6 update TVS has included a host of other new features and styling upgrades. Both motorcycles have been equipped with an all-LED headlamp for the first time with claw-styled position lamps. TVS claims the new lighting system offers best-in-class long-range light penetration and an enhanced widespread. It also gets new attractive race graphics that give the motorcycles a fresh look.
Furthermore, fuelling is now taken care by TVS’ version of electronic fuel-injection called Race Tuned-Fuel injection ‘RT-Fi’ technology which, according to the company, has been designed to offer a racing experience throughout the engine’s life. There is consistent power delivery and fuel economy, along with improved engine durability and better emission control. The bikes are also equipped with a segment-first feature called GTT (Glide Through Traffic) capability for low-speed urban riding and enable an extremely smooth and controlled ride.
In terms of the powertrain, starting with the Apache RTR 200 4V, the motorcycle continues to be powered by the same 197.75cc single-cylinder, 4-valve, oil-cooled mill that now pumps out 20.2bhp pf max power at 8500rpm and 16.8Nm of peak torque at 7500rpm. As for the RTR 160 4V, the 159.7cc oil-cooled single-pot motor now churns out 15.8bhp at 8,250rpm and 14.12Nm at 7,250rpm. Transmission duties on both bikes continue to be taken care of by a five-speed gearbox.
On the feature-front, the RTR 200 4V gets the recently launched SmartXonnect instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and also dual-channel ABS as standard with RLP (Rear wheel Lift-off Protection) control and an RT-Slipper Clutch. Both motorcycles feature new ‘feather touch’ start, wave bite ignition key and the all-new aerodynamically designed claw mirrors.
The bikes are suspended by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is done by disc brakes at both ends on the RTR 200, while the RTR 160 4V comes with the option of a disc and drum for the front brake. The rear remains to be handled by drum brake assembly.
As for colour options, the 2020 edition of the Apache RTR 200 4V series is available in two options, Gloss Black and Pearl White, Meanwhile, the 2020 Apache RTR 160 4V series is being offered in three colour shades, Racing Red, Metallic Blue and Knight Black. TVS has started accepting bookings for the 2020 edition of respective Apache models at all authorised TVS dealerships across the country.
