Following the launch of the BS6 versions of the Apache RTR 160 4V and RTR 200 4V models, TVS has now added the Jupiter Classic scooter to its line-up. Equipped with TVS’ ET-Fi (Ecothrust Fuel injection) technology, the company has launched the BS6 Jupiter Classic model at Rs 67,911(ex-showroom, New Delhi). Compared to the carbureted version, the fuel-injected BS6 variant is dearer by Rs 7,921. Notably, TVS has introduced the BS6 Jupiter Classic only in a drum variant, in comparison to the out-going Classic version which features a disc brake up front as standard.
According to TVS, with its Ecothrust fuel-injection technology, the BS6 Jupiter will offer an enhanced improvement in overall performance across driveability, smoothness, and fuel economy which is claimed to be 15 per cent better. In addition to the existing features available on the Jupiter Classic which include the classic dial instrument console, chrome pillion handle with cushioned backrest, windscreen and chromed mirrors (excluding disc brake), the BS6 version now gets a USB charger in the front mobile storage compartment and a tinted visor.
In terms of the powertrain, TVS hasn’t revealed the exact specifications, but it will continue to be powered by the same 109.7cc motor mated to a variomatic gearbox. Suspension duties will be handled by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking, as mentioned above will be handled by drum brakes on both ends.
TVS is offering the BS6 Jupiter Classic with the choice of three colour shades Sunlit Ivory, Autumn Brown and INDIBLUE. The company will be introducing the corresponding BS6 versions of the Jupiter Base, ZX and Grande editions in a phase-wise manner.
