KTM 390 Adventure unveiled in India at 2019 India Bike Week

The KTM 390 Adventure has finally been showcased in India at the 2019 India Bike Week in Goa.

The 390 Adventure draws styling inspiration from the bigger 790 Adventure which is sold internationally. It is based on the 390 Duke streetfighter, although with an off-road focused character. While the LED headlamp is similar to the streetfighter, the 390 Adventure sports a different, 14-5 litre fuel-tank, knuckle-guards, clear windscreen, a more comfortable split-seat setup and engine sump guard to complete the look.  

The motorcycle rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels wrapped in dual-sport rubber. It also boasts of 43mm inverted forks upfront that offer 170mm of travel and a preload and rebound adjustable monoshock at the rear with 177mm of travel. Meanwhile, braking is done by a 320mm single-disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear accompanied by a dual-channel ABS.   

Underneath the motorcycle’s tubular trellis frame is a 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that also does duty on the streetfighter version. This motor produces 42.9bhp of power and 37Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. In terms of electronics, the 390 Adventure comes with a Bluetooth-enabled TFT screen, a ‘Supermoto’ mode which deactivates ABS to the rear wheel along with a traction control system which is first-in-class.  

As for competition, the 390 Adventure will go up against the Kawasaki Versys 300 and the BMW G310 GS and Royal Enfield Himalayan in the country. Unofficial bookings for the motorcycle have already begun in select showrooms across India and KTM is expected to announce the price of the motorcycle soon.
