- Kawasaki will soon launch the 2020 Z650
- Will be priced around Rs 6.25-6.50 lakhs (ex-showroom)
- Likely to be launched by January 2020
Kawasaki will soon launch the 2020 edition of its middle-weight street naked, the Z650, in India. The motorcycle is now BS6 compliant and will be priced in the ballpark of Rs 6.25-6.50 lakhs (ex-showroom) which will be a premium of around Rs 55,000-80,000 over the existing model.
Kawasaki had unveiled the 2020 Z650 at the 2019 EICMA show in November, along side its larger sibling, the 2020 Z900. The naked street bike now features a couple of updates to its styling which give it a more aggressive appeal. Firstly, the low-slung, large headlamp has been replaced by a more compact yet angular unit which makes for an angry face. While the fuel tank has been left unchanged, the tank extensions have been restyled while boasting of new graphics. Rest of the design of the motorcycle remains unchanged.
Kawasaki has bestowed the new Z650 with several new features such as LED headlamp and a comprehensive 4.3-inch full-colour TFT instrument cluster which connects with the rider’s smartphone via Bluetooth. The 649cc, parallel-twin motor has also been tweaked to comply with the new BS6 emission regulations. Despite the changes, the power figures of the motorcycle have remained unchanged at 67.2bhp and 65.7Nm.
In terms of hardware, the new Z650 continues to be equipped with telescopic forks and monoshock along with twin discs up front and a single disc at the rear. However, the brand has equipped the new model with Dunlop Sportsmax Roadsport 2 tyres for a better grip. Meanwhile, the new street naked also gets updated rider and pillion seat with deeper and wider padding for better comfort on long rides.
Kawasaki is likely to introduce the 2020 Z650 in India by January 2020 while the deliveries might commence at a later stage. The motorcycle will be introduced only in one paint scheme - metallic spark black.
