- Smaller Dominar under development
- Could get the 250cc motor from Duke 250
- Will get less fancier parts
Bajaj is a company that really knows to make full use of its brand. With Pulsars and Discovers, it managed to expand its market share by a huge margin. The company now plans to make full use of the Dominar brand by launching a smaller version.
According to these test mule pictures, there’s a smaller Dominar in the making. The spotted motorcycle was running a much cheaper swingarm along with thinner tyres. The wheels are different as well. The brake discs are much smaller, and the chain cover doesn’t look like the ones that’s seen on the Dominar 400. Rest of the cycle parts are same as the one on the Dominar 400, include the upside-down front forks.
The Dominar 400 is priced at Rs 1.9 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai). So there’s a place for a smaller Dominar, maybe a 250cc one. With the smaller Dominar, Bajaj will be able to plug in the huge void that’s between the Pulsar RS200 and the Dominar 400. There are a few brands like Jawa and Royal Enfield who have been selling decent number of motorcycles. So with the Dominar 250, Bajaj might have a chance to bring in more buyers into the brand.
Interestingly, there’s a place for a lower-spec Dominar 400 too. But we don’t think Bajaj will go that route, as Bajaj has been promoting the Dominar 400 as a premium and flagship motorcycle. It rather makes sense to bring in a 250cc version. That way Bajaj can create a new product and also keep the brand strong.
