- Two electric scooters spied testing around TVS’s Hosur facility
- Both test mules were heavily camouflaged
- Likely to be a performance-oriented electric scooter
A video of two scooters undergoing tests have emerged on the internet which are believed to be the upcoming electric scooters from TVS. An online report states that the scooters were spotted testing around Hosur where TVS’s factory is located, furthering backing the speculation. The company is scheduled to launch a new product on 25 January which is likely to be the same e-scooter.
Both the test mules were heavily camouflaged, hiding the design of the scooter. However, the area where the crankcase of conventional scooters sit seems to be occupied by an electric motor. Currently there’s no information about its battery and motor specifications. However, given the success of the performance-oriented Ntorq 125, we believe the electric scooter too will follow the same footsteps with impressive performance.
TVS had unveiled an electric scooter concept named the Creon, at the 2018 Auto Expo. Built around a perimeter frame, the Creon had 3 Li-ion batteries with a power rating of 12kWh. Nevertheless, we expect the production e-scooter to be equipped with a single li-ion battery capable of producing around 4kWh. TVS had claimed that the Creon goes from 0-60kmph in 5.1 seconds and gets a range of 80km on a full charge. However, these number are likely to be more realistic for the final model.
Although the design of the Creon was profoundly radical, the spied scooter might borrow some styling clues from the concept. A close look at the images also reveals a large rectangular-shaped digital instrument cluster which will undoubtedly be a Bluetooth-enabled unit.
With the Ather 450 currently being the benchmark in the electric scooter segment, expect TVS to attempt emulating it in terms of performance, range and pricing. For more details about the scooter, we’ll have to wait until its official launch.
