- TVS launched BS6-compliant Apache RTR 160
- Priced at Rs 93,500 (front disc) and Rs 96,500 (rear disc)
- New model is around Rs 5,000 more expensive than the BS4 version
TVS Motor Company has launched the BS6 version of its sporty commuter, the Apache RTR 160, in India. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 93,500 (front disc) and Rs 96,500 (rear disc) (both prices are ex-showroom), which is a premium of around Rs 5,000 over its BS4 counterpart.
The new Apache RTR 160 is powered by a 159.7cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor, as opposed to the carbureted mill in the outgoing model. Although a minor drop in performance is observed in other motorcycles updated for compliance with BS6, the RTR 160 has surprisingly witnessed a hike in its power figures. At 15.3bhp and 13.9Nm, it churns out 0.3bhp and 0.9Nm more than the BS4 version. Also, similar to the more premium RTR 200 4V and RTR 160 4V models, it has been equipped with TVS’ GTT (glide through technology) for smooth low-speed riding in traffic.
While the motorcycle remains unchanged in terms of design, TVS has adorned it with sportier graphics for lending it a fresh appeal. It continues to get conventional headlamp with position lamps, LED tail lamp, semi-digital instrument cluster and a 16 litre fuel tank. In terms of cycle parts, the Apache rides on 17-inch wheels which are suspended by telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers. Braking setup is assisted by a single-channel ABS.
TVS has launched the new Apache RTR 160 BS6 in six colour options including gloss red, matte red, black, white, grey and blue. Bookings for the motorcycle are open at all TVS dealerships across India.
