TVS Motor Company has finally hopped on the electric bandwagon by launching its first electric scooter, the iQube. It has been priced at Rs 1.15 lakhs (on-road) and is currently available only in Bangalore. Bookings for the iQube have commenced at Rs 5,000 through its official website and at select dealerships in Bangalore.
The iQube comes loaded with modern features such as full-LED lighting and a fully-digital instrument cluster with TVS' SmartXonnect technology for connecting with a smartphone. Moreover, it also incorporates Geo-fencing, remote battery charging indication function, navigation assist, over-speed alert, last park location and the display shows incoming call and message alerts. This display also gets a day and night mode for better visibility. Interestingly, TVS has also introduced Q-park function for assistance in easier parking.
Powering the TVS iQube is a 4.4kW electric motor which can attain a top speed of 78kmph. Notably, the power is delivered in two modes including economy and power. Moreover, the 2.25kW lithium-ion battery pack of the iQube is claimed to deliver a range of 75kms. It can be charged via a 5A charger which is offered with the scooter at no extra cost. Coming to the cycle parts, the e-scooter is suspended by telescopic forks up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is handled by disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear.
In terms of competition, the TVS iQube will go up against the Ather 450 and the newly-launched Bajaj Chetak electric.
