Yamaha Motor Company has unveiled the new BS6-compliant version of its naked street bike, the FZ 25. Interestingly, the company has also announced a new special version of the motorcycle, the FZS 25. While the former will go on sale in April, more details about the latter will be announced later this year.
While the overall styling of the FZ 25 has remained unchanged, Yamaha has restyled the headlamp cluster to make it look further aggressive with a more compact and angular design. Notably, the streetbike now gets bi-functional LED headlamp along with LED DRL. Other new features on the 2020 model of the FZ include a negative LCD display, underbelly cowl and side stand engine cut off switch.
As for the FZS 25, the motorcycle gets touring-oriented elements such as a taller visor and knuckle guards. The motorcycle will also be available with distinctive paint schemes and jazzier-looking golden wheel rims. Besides, the cosmetic differences, the FZ 25 and the S version appear identical in terms of hardware.
Powering the new FZ 25 is a BS6-compliant 249cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor which churns out 20.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 20.1Nm at 6,000rpm. The power figures have remained the same as the BS4 model. Furthermore, the cycle parts of the motorcycle remain unchanged with telescopic and monoshock suspension along with disc brakes at both ends with dual channel ABS.
Although Yamaha hasn’t announced the pricing of the new FZ 25, it is likely to be pricier by around Rs 8,000-10,000 over the BS4 model which retails at Rs 1.33 lakhs (ex-showroom). As for the FZS 25, it could be slightly more expensive than the standard version.
