- Suzuki unveils BS6-complaint Intruder
- Power and torque figure witness a drop
- Likely to be around Rs 4,000-6,000 more expensive than the BS4 model
Suzuki has unveiled the new BS6 model of its 155cc cruiser, the Intruder, at the Auto Expo 2020 in Delhi. The motorcycle will be officially launched next month and the prices will also be announced at the same time. While the existing Intruder Fi retails at Rs 1.10 lakhs (ex-showroom), expect the BS6 model to come with a premium of around Rs 4,000-6,000 over the BS4 model.
The Intruder continues to boast of its distinctive cruiser styling with large and swooping body panels. The motorcycle also remains unchanged in terms of features. It gets a fully-digital LCD display similar to the Gixxer along with conventional headlamp and LED tail lamp.
Changes have been made to the powerplant of the bike in accordance with the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The 155cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor now churns out 13.4bhp at 8000rpm and 13.8Nm at 6000rpm. Owing to the tweaks in the engine for compliance with BS6 norms, the power figures have gone down from the BS4 mill’s 14.6bhp and 14Nm. The engine comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.
The Intruder remains unchanged on the hardware front. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with damping duties taken care of by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends assisted by single-channel ABS as standard. The cruiser gets a 11 litre fuel tank and the overall kerb weight stands at 152kg which is 4kgs more than its BS4 counterpart.
In the entry-level cruiser segment, the Suzuki Intruder goes up against the Bajaj Avenger Street 160 which is yet to receive the BS6 update.
