- Kawasaki launches special edition model of the Z900 at Rs 7.99 lakhs
- Engine continues to be BS4-compliant
- Gets same styling, features and hardware as the new 2020 model
Kawasaki has launched the new special edition version of its middle-weight naked street bike, the Z900, in India. What’s special about this model is that it borrows the new design, updated features and revised hardware from the 2020 Z900, however, the engine is still BS4-compliant. This has helped the brand in pricing it lower at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), whereas the BS6 model will be priced between Rs 8.5-9 lakhs, as the company had announced a couple of days back.
While the overall silhouette of the 2020 Z900 remains similar to the outgoing model, Kawasaki has restyled its headlamp, bikini fairing, fuel tank extensions and the tail section in order to lend it a more aggressive appeal. The headlamp now houses LED lamps, as opposed to the previous conventional bulbs. Another major update comes in the form of a new 4.3-inch, TFT display with Bluetooth-connectivity which pairs with smartphone for showing ample information through the Rideology mobile app.
The new special edition Z900 packs the same BS4-compliant, 948cc, in-line four motor which produces 123bhp of power and 98.6Nm of torque and it comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. To make the streetfighter more capable, the team green has also made the chassis stronger and has improved the suspension damping. The 2020 model also gets new features such as three-mode traction control and riding modes. Furthermore, it runs on grippier Dunlop Sportsmax Roadsport 2 tyres.
Kawasaki is accepting bookings for this BS4 Z900 special edition in limited numbers, which is open at all authorised dealerships across India. Deliveries are expected to commence by the end of February.
