BMW 310 platform-based new TVS product in the pipeline

TVS Motor Company-BMW Motorrad partnership is ready to spawn a new product, and the latest model from the Indo-German joint venture will come with TVS branding. The update was shared by KN Radhakrishnan, President, CEO & Additional Whole-Time Director, TVS Motor Company during a conference call with the analysts.

KN Radhakrishnan remained tight-lipped about any further details about the BMW-based upcoming TVS product. While the details are scarce, we could either see a street naked or an adventure tourer. A street naked motorcycle (Apache RTR 310 4V? Maybe) makes a stronger case than an adventure tourer at the moment.

A street naked, if under development, will most likely be based on the Apache RR 310. However, unlike the fully-faired motorcycle, the roadster model will feature a wide handlebar and upright ergonomics. The feature list on the roadster motorcycle, similar to the Apache RR 310, should include full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled colour TFT display, ride-by-wire throttle and multiple riding modes (Urban, Rain, Sport and Track).

The hardware specifications, too, should match the Apache RR310, and the roadster could come equipped with upside-down telescopic front forks, preload adjustable mono-shock, petal-type disc brakes on both wheels and dual-channel ABS.

Engine specifications are not likely to change from the Apache RR 310. The fully-faired motorcycle, for reference, uses a BS6 compliant 312.2cc reverse inclined, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor that produces 33.5bhp at 9,700rpm and 27.3Nm at 7,700rpm in Sport and Track mode. The Rain and Urban mode deliver 25.4bhp at 7,700rpm and 25Nm at 6,700rpm. The six-speed gearbox on the BS6 Apache RR310 uses a six-speed gearbox with a Race Tuned slipper-clutch.
