- BS6 Hero XPulse 200 revealed
- Gets a rerouted exhaust pipe and new bash plate
- Air-cooled engine has been replaced by an oil-cooled unit
Hero MotoCorp has launched the rally kit for its adventure motorcycle, the XPulse 200, priced at Rs 38,000 in India. Besides the launch of the accessory package, the BS6-compliant version of the XPulse has also been revealed.
Talking about the changes over its BS4 counterpart, it’s difficult to spot any differences in the first glance. However, a keen eye will notice that the exhaust pipe has been rerouted to fit a larger catalytic converter. Another update comes in the form of a new larger bash plate. And for better heat management, Hero has also equipped the BS6 XPulse 200 with oil-cooler, in place of air-cooler accompanying the BS4 engine.
Currently there’s no information about the power figures of the BS6 XPulse. We expect them to be slightly different from its existing BS4-compliant fuel-injected version which produces 18.1bhp at 8,000rpm and 17.1Nm at 6,500rpm. Besides these changes, the motorcycle remains identical to the outgoing model in all other areas. It features full-LED headlamp and tail lamp along with a Bluetooth-enabled fully-digital instrument cluster.
For taking on rough terrains efficiently, the XPulse 200 comes equipped with off-road-oriented cycle parts. It rides on a large 21-inch wheel up front and an 18-inch wheel at the rear, both shod with dual-purpose tyres. Damping is handled by telescopic forks with 190mm of travel and a monoshock with 170mm of travel. Stopping power comes from a 276mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear along with single-channel ABS.
The existing fuel-injected version of the Hero XPulse 200 costs Rs 1.06 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Expect the BS6 version to demand a premium of around Rs 3,000-6,000 over the current pricing.
